Slice of Write

Stories & jibber-jabber by Janelle Parmer, Author of The Other Side of the Ledge & Chasing Calla Lilies

Cancer, you son of a bitch

You are the most selfish bastard I have ever encountered

Your arrogance has no boundaries

The people you infect from the inside out is beyond repair

You leave collateral damage in your wake with absolutely no remorse

I wish you could feel the excruciating pain that no human body should ever experience

If there is truly a hell, I would love to be the one to send you back there

Although, I know that would never glue my shattered heart back together again

These pieces are forever broken

Too many loved ones gone because of your uncontrollable habit to assassinate beauty

You are a serial killer that steals the souls of anyone I love

I patiently wait for the day you force yourself into my organs, contaminating my body with your poison, in order to fulfill our destinies

Fate has already determined that you will be the death of me but I will not easily succumb

I will fight you just as my family and friends before

At the end of our battle, solace will be found, and justice served as I draw my last breath, and whisper the names of everyone you have taken—happily knowing that my death will take you with me

A sad but powerful slice. Well done. I will borrow a quote from a movie: “Death smiles at us all; all a man can do is smile back.”
